De 12:18 - "But they will be your food before the Lord your God in the place of his selection, where you may make a feast of them, with your son and your daughter, and your man-servant and your woman-servant, and the Levite who is living with you: and you will have joy before the Lord your God in everything to which you put your hand."
Here again the passage is talking about the Lord’s feast* but now it’s expanded the scope of the joy saying that by doing it we will have joy before the Lord in everything we do. (*I am also reminded that in some churches communion is called the Lord’s Supper. Hmm,.. supper,.. feast,.. Kind of a connection there I think)
So here’s how I read the two verses together: The Lord’s feast, (supper, or communion) combined with the bringing of our offerings should be done with joy. God wants his service to be a delight not drudgery. If we will do that and be kind to his servants (Levites as it is rendered or our brothers and sisters in the Lord) then we will have His joy in all the rest of the things we do as well. Invest a little joy in the His service and He promises to return a big joy dividend.
