The Plan

Well I'm running a bit behind with getting on top of my bike ridding for 2006. Start of April I had a grad total of 42 km done, so now I'm in catch up mode. I'm at 283 km as of this morning. Here's the plan for the rest of the year to get me to 3800 km without having to rely on ridding in December.

KM for Month Running Total
Jan to April
400 400
May 550 950
June 550 1500
July 550 2050
August 550 2600
September 550 3150
October 450 3600
November 200 3800

I suggest lowering the projections for May to account for the week of snow we always get in that month.

If I ride each day to and from work I do 35 km a day, that's 175 km a week or 700 km a month. So I should be able to absorb some snow days. BTW the snow in May is normally just a day or two max.

Yeah, a day or two is probably more common. Guess my memory was exaggerating the magnitude of my usual birthday present...

I feel motivated by your ambition. I just bought a new Kona Fire Mountain last week, and after 7 1/2 months of not riding (my very sweet Brodie Quantum was cruely stolen from me last September)my butt is very unhappy. There are also a lot more hills in Medicine Hat than Edmonton. I really missed riding, but have been having to pep-talk myself into it again. Now I'm determined to get out there again and ride to the library today!
