We've been going through First Peter at Xalt and my take on the Slaves, Wives and Husbands section is that it's all about Loving our Enemies. We never have just enemies, and that just bothers us deeply. We really want things to be fair.
Reminds me of a GK Chesterton quote: Our Lord "The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people".
