Praise and Cursing

Sing to GOD! All praise to GOD!
He saves the weak from the grip of the wicked.

Curse the day
I was born!
The day my mother bore me--
a curse on it, I say!
Jeremiah 20:13-14.

In two verses Jeremiah goes from praise to cursing, one often gets the impression that the spiritual life is all about praise, I deeply appreciate the laments in scripture, the freedom to rage against God as at the start of Jeremiah famous lament
You pushed me into this, GOD, and I let you do it.
You were too much for me.
And now I'm a public joke.
They all poke fun at me.
I wonder if we could create space for lament in Church, to let people know it's ok to hurt and tell God about it in very direct terms.

- Peace

Wow, that's got to be one of the best lead-ins for the five sorrowful mysteries. May I steal your ideas next week when I go through the sorrowful mysteries?

On reflection they work well for the Stations of the Cross as well.

I always hated the five sorrowful mysteries and the stations of the Cross. Now I see that they exist precisely to give us "space to lament" in the Church. Thanks brother.
