I could see it working for people who need to mix transit with one or two KM of walking. Course that assumes that it's as easy to ride as they make it look.
In many places people take cars cause transit doesn't get close enough and walking is too slow, could fill that gap. I know a guy in LA who used a folding bike for that.

There seems to be no end to the new contraptions we can waste our money on.

I prefer the segway because it's more ride and less walk.
