If a squash can make you smile

Looks like NBC is squashing references to God for the TV episodes of Veggie Tales. Phil Vischer (what a fine musician) apparently has comments on his blog but I haven't found it yet.

Reminds me of the "Touched By an Angel" censorship e-mail... only that one was apparently a hoax.

Unreal. This can't be the world I'm living in, there has to be more to this story.

SIDE NOTE IDEAJOY HIJACKING: Richard I was just reading this and going to email you and some others but instead I will just post it here; hopefully Dave King will see this too.

It is a fantastic analysis of the Pope's recent lecture. Well, it's a fantastic editorial, I still haven't actually read the lecture =)

Hopefully that shaky-looking link works for you all. If not visit weeklystandard.com and click on "Socrates or Muhammad".

Yeah, I've always appreciated the detail Phil Vischer puts into the Veggie music...

Looks like the Veggies will have to do like the book of Esther (and Lord of the Rings, and Narnia) and portray the journey of faith without actually using the word God.

And now, it's time for Software Architecture with Larry...

We are the GUI's that dont do anything. We just stay on screen, and paint ourselves. And if you ask us to do anything, we'll just tell you: we raised an event.

Oh, I've never launched a process, and I've never sent an e-mail, and I've never caught an error on a virtual machine. And I've never salted hashes, and I won't lookup a password, and I've never made stateless session bean.

Calvin, thanks for the great link. Everything else I've read either defends the pope or criticizes him but almost nothing talks about what he actually said.

Oh, and a correction to make the verse to the pirate song scan:
never made a stateless session bean.

You probably have this, but I did read the lecture tonight (finally) and it really is enlightening. I feel the editorial was pretty spot-on:
